(a) Could Table 3.2 below represent a linear function? If so why?
(b) Write a possible formula for the function shown in the table below.

Ans: (a) Yes, average rate of change is 0.35 throughout the entire domainfo teh function
(b) f(t) = 0.35t + 0.6 (since y-intercept is 0.6)
Question 2 (5 points) A salesman's total earning in given by
a linear function, W(n), where W is his weekly earnings
and n is the number of weeks. After 2 weeks of working his total
earning was $450 and 5 weeks after working is
total earning was $675. Write a possible formula that expresses the
salesman's total earning as a function of time in weeks.
Ans: Linear Function given 2 points: (2, 450) and (5, 675)
Slope, m = (675 - 450) / (5 - 2) = 225 / 3 = $75 per week (his weekly earnings)
So possible formula is W = 75n + W0
Using point (2, 450) we discovered that vertical intercept (W0 = 300)
So possible formula is W = 75n + 300
