5th Game of Payoffs

Back to Math Baseball Home The number of men required to finish a job is proportional to the time it takes to complete a job. If it takes 4 men to finish a job in 1 hour, how long would it take 24 men to do the job?

(a) Give and explain you answer.

(b) Graph a function that shows the time it takes for 1 man to 24 men  to complete the job as a function of time (or show a table of values relating time to do the job, t an number of men doing the job). Let N be equal to the number of men required for the job and t, the time it takes in hours to do the job.

(c) Can you write a formula that relates t, time it takes to do the job with respect  to the number of  men required to do the job, N?

(d) Is there a function from the set of functions we have studied that is similar to your formula or graph found in parts (b) and (c)?
